Alleviation of Restrictions in Queensland’s Aged Care Homes

Alleviation of Restrictions in Queensland’s Aged Care Homes

Published By Newly , 3 years ago

Family members will be able to visit their elderlies in aged care homes as restrictions in Queensland begin to reduce.

In the recent public health notice, residents of aged care homes can be visited by up to two visitors at a time, which may include children.

Also, visitation hours can be anytime and there is no limit on the number of visitors.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that residents can now go outside for appointments, exercise, and join gatherings of up to 20 people.

She added that the restrictions imposed were very difficult for family members and she also experienced such with her grandmother having limited time with the family.

Shirley Glover said that the alleviation is exciting.

She is the wife of a 91 years old man with dementia in Brisbane whom she didn’t visit for a very long time.

Ms. Glover added that with the new rules, she can now visit her husband for a long time without thinking about restrictions. She pointed out that the role of the family for her husband’s recovery could really make a difference.

Over the past 24 hours, Queensland did not record any new coronavirus cases.

The last person who was admitted to intensive care was already discharged.
