The Communicable Diseases Network of Australia released a national guideline regarding handling coronavirus in aged care.
The said initiative is a collaboration between the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council and National Health and Medical Research Council.
Primarily, the guideline, which was issued last Friday, focused on giving information on how to prevent the spread of coronavirus in aged care.
Various consultations were done to accomplish the guideline and were approved by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee.
The guideline was intended for the care workers, service providers, and healthcare workers in the aged care sector.
The following are the coverage of the released guideline:
· Providing an understanding of the coronavirus
· Preparation and prevention of an outbreak
· Assessment of cases
· The appropriate response to confirmed cases
· Monitoring an outbreak
Such a document patterned its structure from the previous management of other outbreaks in aged care and various guidelines regarding healthcare released by the Australian government and health agencies.
Moreover, supporting information and details were garnered from authorities such as the Centre for Disease and Control Prevention, Public Health Agency of Canada and the World Health Organisation.
It encapsulates the collective effort and knowledge of experts and professionals in the sector and is established through the contribution of leading authorities.
The Department of Health already released a statement encouraging all providers to follow the guidelines.
The document could be accessed through the Department of Health’s website.
