Opportunities Are Coming Due to NDIS Access

Opportunities Are Coming Due to NDIS Access

Published By Newly , 4 years ago

Passion for computers and technology has been a new opportunity for individuals working on it and this is secured by NDIS.

One example is Scott Hughes, a 45-year-old resident in Coorparoo. For more than 12 years, Hughes has been in a wheelchair and enrolled in a five-month coding course through his work.

Hughes worked for Apple in Brisbane for two years that also provided him an Apple Watch to detect his fall.

However, he chose not to use the function of his watch. In order to secure it, he maintains his access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding.

He believes it is important for individuals like him to focus on how to be healthy and improve his well-being. He said maintains that it is the main reason why he is maximising his access to physiotherapists for three days a week.

Hughes also has access to a cleaner that helped him after his hospitalisation last year.

He added that he also maintains an active role in the community.

He told that the isolation brought by spinal injury is very dramatic. However, to evade the drastic effects of the said condition, he joined and participated in different social clubs.

The assistance to Scott brought by NDIS is applied and implemented by Cares Queensland Local Area Coordination Partner in the Brisbane region.

Sally Bellingham, Local Area Coordinator for Hughes’ program continually provides support to him by adding linking supports to the community.

Hughes told that NDIS helps him to have good access to everything he needs.

Carers Queensland can provide help individuals access NDIS and maximize the opportunity it could give.

Carers Queensland can also give a jump-off point for individuals to determine different options in the community.
