Published By Newly , 4 years ago

A Victorian healthcare provider launched an initiative of recognising outstanding employees every day. The initiative was named as Benetas’ Aged Care Employee Day Awards. It seeks to acknowledge the work of its staff on a daily basis.

The launch of the initiative coincided with the Aged Care Employee Day, which is celebrated annually for the aged care sector staff. On its first day, 3 staff members were awarded.

According to Sandra Hills, the CEO of Benetas, the initiative is an important means of acknowledging the employees of the organization. It is through such awarding that their efforts and contributions in the aged care sector are thanked.

Sector acknowledges aged care staff

Leading Age Services Australia recently launched a website that provides daily information, workforce, and involvement in the sector.

In order to foster the said initiative, providers, employees as well as the people involved in the sector are being encouraged to share their photos on social media using the #ACED2019 hashtag.

Sean Rooney, the LASA CEO told that the day for celebrating the importance of each and everyone in the sector of providing care for older people should be significant. According to him, it is a challenge for the sector to acknowledge the significance of the people involved in the sector. These people are usually forgotten by the majority of the people in the country.

Professor John McCallum, the National Seniors Australia CEO reiterated the position made by Rooney and added that aged care workers play a role in the growing aged care industry.

Ian Hardy, the Aged Services Industry Reference Committee chair provided that their skills, compassion, and professionalism involved in the sector further the quality of life of aged people in centres or in their respective homes.

Maree McCable, the incumbent CEO of Dementia Australia also recognise such importance.

70% of the 447,000 Australians with dementia live in the community and 50% of such live in residential aged care. There are the figures that aged care providers deal with every day. This also entails that organisations should take measures in investing a suitable workplace culture of people delivering dementia care.

Lastly, Richard Colbeck, the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care expressed his gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of people working in the sector. He added that the dedication of the workers moulds the nation’s efforts in ensuring the care of parents and grandparents.
