Disability Support Worker
Role Purpose
To provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support to an 11-year-old participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2). The support worker will assist with daily activities, social development, and community participation while promoting independence, routine, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Duties
Provide one-on-one support in the home and community
Assist with daily routines and structured activities
Support social skills development and positive behaviour strategies
Encourage participation in community, recreational, and learning activities
Use clear, calm, and consistent communication
Support emotional regulation and maintain a safe environment
Follow care plans, behaviour support strategies, and family guidance
Assist with transport to activities or appointments if required
Complete progress notes and timesheets accurately
Skills & Qualities
Patient, calm, and understanding
Experience or knowledge of autism support (preferred)
Ability to follow routines and provide structure
Strong communication and observation skills
Reliable and respectful with children and families
