Carrying out Care Certificate assessments in the workplace
Assessment is a key part of identifying whether learners are able to put theory into practice.
This session aims to develop understanding of the purpose and approaches to assessment, and how these can be applied when carrying out Care Certificate assessment of workers.
This session is designed to support the development of the skills you will need when assessing the Care Certificate in the workplace. It forms part of the learning required to enable you to carry out workplace assessment.
By the end of this session, you should be able to:
- explain the purpose of assessment
- understand the purpose of assessing the Care Certificate
- recognise key concepts and principles related to effective assessment in practice
- identify the benefits of using blended learning
- recognise the holistic approaches to assessment
- summarise the key factors to consider when planning and carrying out assessment with workers
Before commencing this session, you should have:
- familiarised yourself with the Care Certificate standards
- understood the different responsibilities which are held by the worker, assessor and manager in their own workplace
- knowledge of your organisation’s policy for learning, development and education
- familiarised yourself with shared Care Certificate resources
- knowledge of how the Care Certificate is achieved by newly recruited workers in their workplace
- recognised how your role can support and influence workers’ completion of the Care Certificate
