Independence Australia Group
Today Independence Australia is a major provider of services to people with a disability. As a social enterprise, we're about providing choices for people living with a disability or other personal need, supporting them to regain and retain their independence. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to fully participate in life and the community, regardless of ability.
Our aim is to improve the quality of your life and give you the resources, encouragement and power to make choices to enhance your well-being and lifestyle, whether it’s in your own home, local community or in our residential facilities.
We have particular expertise in the area of spinal cord injury and poliomyelitis (polio), but we also support people with complex needs across a wide range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, motor neurone disease, spina bifida, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke and impairments linked to ageing.
In many cases people with significant disabilities can be amongst the most disadvantaged within our community and face major difficulties undertaking everyday life activities. To support people through these daily challenges, our major services include in-home support, housing, veteran’s home care, respite, case management, outreach support, psychology and counselling and peer support groups.
With your generous support, income from our social enterprises is channelled back to support our core charitable purpose and help fund these vital services. Our social enterprise initiatives include distributing personal health and wellbeing products, mobility aids and equipment to thousands of customers across Australia.
As one of over 600 staff based mostly in Victoria, you'll discover that working with us will be rewarding and challenging in many ways and at many levels.
For example you'll be:
significantly contributing to the wellbeing of people with a disability and those who care for them
offered a range of benefits, such as tax lowering salary packaging arrangements only available for the social enterprise sector
given opportunities to embrace a work/life balance
encouraged to participate in a health and wellbeing program
joining us at a time when the disability sector is being transformed as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
part of an organisation committed to quality, workforce innovation, training, continuous improvement and professional development
part of a team that genuinely cares for its consumers and staff
working for a social enterprise that puts people ahead of profit
