The Primary Health Network (PHN) area is North Coast NSW with Lismore Hospital as a large regional hospital serving the community. Lismore City Council has worked closely with the Northern NSW Local Health District and St Vincents Private Hospital, to create workable health solutions. Plans are to co-locate health services near hospitals, and enable housing for health workers and visiting health professionals.
Lismore is located on the Bruxner Highway, and is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Brisbane and nine hour from Sydney. CountryLink train services are available from Sydney to Casino with an option to change over from Casino to reach Lismore by bus.
There are over 63.4% home owners across the Far North Coast region. In Lismore, median weekly rent of $195 and median house price of $296,500, are indicative of highly affordable housing. The Council is continually striving to support new housing, rezoning land development and facilitating partnerships with developers to maintain this status.
