Disability Support Worker (Supported Independent Living)

Location: Runcorn, Queensland

Position Type: Part-time, 20-30 hours per week

Salary: Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience (SCHADS Award)

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team in providing high-quality care to individuals living in supported independent living arrangements. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with complex psychosocial behaviours and will be capable of performing sleepovers as part of their duties.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Provide personalised support and care to individuals with disabilities in a supported independent living environment.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household tasks.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and empowerment for clients.
  • Proactively manage and respond to complex psychosocial behaviours in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Collaborate with other members of the support team to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Perform sleepovers as required, providing overnight support and assistance to clients.
     

Requirements
 

  • Previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker, preferably in supported independent living settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with individuals with complex psychosocial behaviours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of professionalism and integrity.
  • Must possess a Yellow Card, Blue Card, valid driver's licence, and comprehensive car insurance.
  • First Aid and CPR certification highly preferred; assistance can be provided in obtaining these certifications if needed.
