What this position is about: The positions we have available are in and around Sydney, NSW and involve working alongside a team of support workers who are caring and go that extra mile. The participants you will be working may have physical disabilities, mental disabilities, complex needs and associated challenges. Overall, this position is very rewarding and has great hours available. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who have been in the industry for a while.
Our participant has 24/7 care needs and as such we have shifts that reflect that - AM, PM and night.
Given the location, we are seeking workers in Sydney and surrounding areas. If you are open to travelling and you don't live in the area, then we are keen to hear from you too.

OYSTER CARE is in the business of providing services and support to people with disabilities. Our aim is to assist our participants in the pursuit of their life choices, either in their own home or the community, to enable greater quality of life experiences.
Our services include in-home assistance, accommodation support, and everyday life skills development, on a one-to-one basis and through group support options.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be working closely with our participants, other service providers, stakeholders, managers and support workers to ensure effective and timely supports are provided to meet client needs in line with their NDIS packages, policies and procedures.
- Assisting in developing and implementing client-specific programs to help individuals build strong social skills and encourage independence where possible
- Providing support based on a person-centered approach, supporting inclusion and participation
- Providing support to assist clients with daily life tasks as well as community participation
- Working effectively both in a team and with different client ratios
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
- Being available to work a variety of shift types, including early morning, afternoon, evening, weekends, sleepovers and active nights
- Creating and complying to an Individual Support Plan
- Complying with all recording requirements, including but not limited to - recording medication, administration, completing incident reports, completing participant progress notes, updating participant support plans
- Attending and participating in scheduled supervision meetings with all stakeholders
- Ensuring own hours worked are accurately recorded and reflect actual hours worked
- Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements
- Adhering to all policies, procedures and NDIS guidelines and regulations
- Managing and de-escalating participants behaviours of concern
- All other duties as directed by Management
Key areas of work:
As the Senior Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in the organization, responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of disability and mental health support services provided by junior subordinates, in addition to providing the support services required from your end.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining compliance with NDIS regulations and funding requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality to continually improve service delivery and participant outcomes. In addition, identifying areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance service quality and client satisfaction.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the support staff and junior support workers fostering a positive and collaborative team culture. Mentor and develop team members to deliver exceptional support services.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and expand our service offerings.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with NDIS participants, their families, and external stakeholders to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.
- Compliance: Stay updated and ensure compliance with NDIS guidelines, policies, and regulations.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Experience: Proven experience in a management role within the disability support services sector and a comprehensive understanding of NDIS policies and procedures.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership abilities, with a focus on motivating and inspiring teams to achieve their best.
- Innovation: A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with participants, families, and stakeholders.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in disability services, management, or a related field.

Experience with mental health, aged care, community and disability care.

· Experience supporting Participants with daily living skills, food preparation and housekeeping.
· Own and willing to use a comprehensively insured vehicle as part of a service – this includes transporting participants.
· Covid-19 Vaccinated and willing to have further vaccinations as directed by health authorities.
· Must be willing to travel around the Hunter Region; Nelson Bay, Newcastle NSW and surrounding areas.
Licence/Certification:
· NSW/International Driver’s Licence.
· NDIS Orientation Certificate.
· New Worker NDIS Induction Module Certificate.
· COVID-19 Training.
· Must be vaccinated for Covid-19.
Pay is based on the SCHADS Award (Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award).
