Living and working in Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

Australia’s federal district is enclaved within NSW, like a jewel set in gold. It is defined by the dynamism of Canberra, a bunch of idyllic townships, surrounding patchwork farmlands and dense mountainous tracts of the Namadgi National Park.

Geographically positioned in the south-east, on the east coast of Australia, ACT is bounded by the watershed of Naas Creek to the south, the watershed of the Cotter River in the west, and the watershed of the Molonglo River in the north-east. It has a population of 397,397, with a majority residing in Canberra.

The mouth-watering food and select wine beg indulgence. Museums and galleries display the national art treasure. And treelined streets hobble alongside islands of parks. The outdoors are resplendent with colour as the four seasons unfold, and hot air ballooning is a recommended pastime. Bywong showcases a replica of an old mining town settlement and is a fine tourist attraction. The Murrumbidgee River offers opportunities for water-sporting and leisure.

A plethora of choices exist for interconnectivity and road, rail and air links keep the region well-connected. By road, ACT sits comfortably, a mere three-hour drive away from Sydney, and a seven-hour drive from Melbourne.

Aged Care and Disability Support Jobs in Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

ACT is the second best performing economic region in the country and economic activities are heavily concentrated around Canberra. It is a hub for the surrounding regions providing healthcare, education, and entertainment services. It attracts both large and small businesses, and a cluster of research centres have sprouted here. The Australian National University (ANU) in Acton and the University of Canberra (UC) in Bruce are institutions of repute. Healthcare and Social Assistance is the second largest employer, after Public Administration and Safety, providing over 21,300 jobs.

The healthcare professionals are supported by the Australian Capital Territory Primary Health Network (PHN). The ACT has two public hospitals, the Canberra Hospital in Garran and Calvary Hospital in Bruce, and five private hospitals. The hospitals provide a broad range of general and specialised services. The facilities are modern, with state-of-the-art technology.

A tight control over the planning process, a safe and crime-free environment and a choice existence, put a high value on living in the ACT. Housing here is a value proposition, and the median housing price is $475,000, and the median weekly rent is $500.
